Eight injured in Eastleigh blast

Eight people were injured after a blast rocked Eastleigh 1st avenue in Nairobi on 5th December 2012. Emergency medical services managed eight hospital transfers of casualties of which three were in criticalcondition with severe head injuries , multiple fracture of the lower limbs andexcessive bleeding.

The incident was reported to Kenya Red Cross Emergency Operations center by Kenya Red Cross Volunteer Kevin Kiprono minutes after the explosion at around 1900hrs which triggered quick emergency response by Emergency medical services.

On arrival, paramedic assisted in emergency treatment at Mother and child hospital,after assessment and performing Advanced Life Support intervention, stabilized the patients and stopped excessive bleeding, before quickly transferring them to Kenyatta National Hospital with the help of KRCS Nairobi branch volunteers.
